Redefine your personal best.
Do you care about the environment? Do you have a passion for water and the vital part it plays to sustain life, habitats, ecology and as an essential human resource? Are you keen to put your learning into practice?
Would you like to be part of a team that contributes to the intricate balance between a sustainable water environment and a future resilient water supply for the UK?
Stantec is seeking enthusiastic graduates to play a central role in delivering an expanding workload and reputation for providing innovative water resource management solutions, as well environmental and regulatory services for a range of public and private sector clients in the UK.
There are opportunities for graduates to join our Water Resources Management and Planning team at numerous locations (Leeds, Birmingham, Redditch, High Wycombe, Reading and London) across the UK.
It is an exciting time to become involved with the challenges faced by the water resources of the UK. With the recent hot summers contributing to drought restrictions for many water companies, the impact of climate change on the water environment, finding solutions to ensure the long-term national resilience to droughts, developing new resources and seeking ways to lower demand through leakage management and smart metering, are just a few of the issues faced.
Stantec’s engagement with water resources planning initiatives across the UK and Ireland has significantly grown since 2020. This has included working across several Strategic Resource Option investigations in England and Wales, Water Resource Management Plans, Drought Plans and much more. This remains a focus for Stantec into 2023 and beyond, helping to deliver current projects and preparing for future opportunities.
“Stantec has ambitious growth targets in the water resources planning market, building on our position as the leading provider of professional, technical services to the UK water companies. We are seeking enthusiastic water resources management graduates to support our strategy and tackle the challenges to ensuring the nation has a resilient water supply whilst meeting the needs of the environment.”
As a member of our Water Resources Planning team, your role will involve providing technical support to the team with inputs into water resources-related investigations.
The team provides services including helping water companies, regulators or private clients with modelling water resource availability using Pywr, Aquator or Miser models, drought planning, collecting field hydrometric data, processing data in GIS, advising on planning for water resource needs in a future impacted by both population growth and climate change and so much more. The team is also actively seeking opportunities to work outside the UK in collaboration with global Stantec offices.
Matt, our newest team member, a graduate who joined a few months ago, shared his experience working for Stantec "In my first few months as a graduate hydrologist at Stantec I felt that I was part of a supportive team. I have worked on a plethora of water projects ranging from water resources modelling to water quality site work. The wide range of projects that I've had the chance to work on has kept me on my toes.
The fact that each month is different is motivating for me and the flexible hybrid working adds to this. I feel that there is a good balance of site and desk work, opportunities to network at conferences as well as support and encouragement to learn new skills/software and develop towards professional chartership through a good grad programme. I'm proud to work for a company such as Stantec."
2023 will be Stantec UK’s largest graduate intake. It’s an exciting time as we embark on an ambitious path to grow. If this sounds like something that appeals to you, then look no further!
To be successful in this role, you will hold a degree in a relevant subject, such as geography, hydrology, water resources management, environmental science, civil or environmental engineering.
From our side, we can offer you continuous opportunities to develop and progress your career, a great learning culture and working environment, flexible hours /working pattern and location, a competitive benefits package and much more.
You will also be part of our successful graduate training programme and will be offered ample opportunities to learn and develop as part of this programme.
