"If you’re a student considering Reckitt as a place to work, I’d say go for it!"
I first came across Reckitt at the University of Birmingham in 2016 when I participated in the chemistry challenge with other students in my year. I was delighted when my project to create a new format for Vanish won.
Two years later, after the application process, I joined Reckitt as an Airwick Year in Industry (YII) student. The placement is part of my four-year MSci and is providing valuable hands-on industrial experience.
I’ve had the opportunity to carry out laboratory testing, but also to take ownership in the whole product development process – from leading meetings to liaising with third parties and suppliers. These skills will be so useful when applying for jobs in the future, and are perfect to add to my CV. I’ve learnt so much through the YII Programme at Reckitt. You’re given responsibility, with the support you need to develop, right from the start.
As a YII student, you can undertake a project – mine is to develop an analytical method to quantify fragrance degradation. This something which will add business value and, I hope, will be used at Reckitt long after I return to uni.
If you’re a student considering Reckitt as a place to work, I’d say go for it! The experience and skills you’ll gain are invaluable.
