We work on some of the continent's most high-profile projects, including the delivery of major enhancement and maintenance frameworks for Network Rail and are currently working on some incredibly exciting projects like our £400 million project to regenerate Waterloo Station. We are also delivering major schemes overseas in North Africa, Asia and North America.

Job description

The Colas Rail Graduate Schemes are two-year fast track training programmes, which will jump start your career and begin to provide you with the all the technical and managerial skills that you will need to realise your potential. We are committed to developing our employees and building our own talent, this in turn results in loyal and passionate employees who really care and deliver brilliantly for our customers.

We are currently looking for a graduate to join the Engineering Graduate Programme within our Rail Services division. The role would be based in Doncaster.
 
As an engineering graduate with Colas Rail, you will be enrolled in a two-year Engineering graduate programme which has a distinct focus on the technical side of our business. You can expect to be working closely with our experienced engineers and senior management on improving the UK rail systems.
 
Throughout your programme we will support you via our Technical Development Frameworks and give you the opportunity to continuously learn and develop your skills and knowledge, with the goal to helping you achieve Chartered Engineering status.
 
It is very important to us that you only think of your 2-year graduate scheme as the very start of your journey with Colas Rail because this is going to be just the beginning of an exciting, challenging and very rewarding career.

Developing leaders of the future

Developing people is key to our operational success, with 25% of our leaders progressing through our Graduate Schemes. The Trainee & Apprentice programmes we run are equally as important to closing the skills gap facing the industry.

We build our own talent and develop them on fast track Leadership, Technical and Commercial schemes and this in turn results in loyal and passionate employees who deliver brilliantly for our contracts. We can demonstrate this approach on our alliance contracts such as S&C, Wessex Capacity Alliance and the Midland Metro Alliance where it produces fantastic results.

At Colas Rail we believe the investment made in training and development is vital to maintaining competitive advantage and we are committed to utilising training and development to ensure that every possible opportunity is available to our staff.

Person requirements

Essential

We're looking for bright, enthusiastic and determined people who can work both independently and in a team. For all our Graduate Programmes we are looking for at least a 2:2 degree from University, and the ability to stand out, by internships, university successes or extracurricular activities. We are also looking for graduates who share our ethics and behaviours, but are not afraid to look at ways in which we can continuously improve.

Qualification and experience requirements:
 
For management graduates, we are looking for a minimum of:

  • 2:2 degree in an engineering discpline
  • A strong desire to pursue development in the railway industry.
  • Driving licence
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
