The AMRC is a network of world-leading research and innovation centres working with advanced manufacturing companies around the globe. Digital Manufacturing is one of key themes within AMRC and your role will look at the development of software applications for “the 4th Industrial revolution”. Working with some of the largest names in Aerospace, Automotive and Construction, and SMEs around North West region, your work will encompass the implementation of Industrial Internet of Things (IoT), and Digitally Assisted Assembly (DAA) technologies, for advanced manufacturing systems. We are looking for a diverse skill-set, including good organisational skills, and the ability to research, problem solve, design, and implement ideas in a hands-on environment. In this role, you will be required to have a practical approach, a positive attitude, and be a confident communicator.

As a Software Engineer in this varied and dynamic role, you will be responsible for undertaking various engineering duties in the day-to-day running of research projects as well as project scoping set up and delivery. You will be responsible for reporting progress to Technical Leads and develop areas of niche specialism in response to industrial requirements with the objective of building research themes and associated teams in these areas.

Applications from candidates with software, electronics or manufacturing backgrounds with the willingness to cross train and develop a multi-disciplinary skillset are welcomed. You will be educated to a Graduate degree level in one of the fields including, but not limited to: Mechatronics, software engineering, electronics engineering, aerospace engineering, robotics, embedded systems, control systems, advanced manufacturing, CAD/CAM/CIE.

You will:

  • Have a good degree in a relevant subject (or equivalent industrial experience).
  • Have general programming skills within supplementary languages in one or more of the following: C, C++, C#, Java,
    Python, Matlab
  • Have experience in prototyping, experimental and hands-on work..
  • Have experience of successful team working, including teams made up of internal colleagues and external customers
    with varied skill sets.
  • Have experience in software development through previous experience or project work.
