We have an exciting opportunity in the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre for someone with a passion for mechanical engineering who is looking to use their skills in manufacturing to make an impact on UK productivity.

As a Project Engineer, you will be part of a team working on assembly projects for partner companies and European funded framework research projects. Current and future projects involve working closely with leading aerospace companies including BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce and Boeing. You will play an active role in designing, building and testing systems for optimising manufacturing processes. You should have proven experience with design, build and development of mechanical systems, a willingness to work within a larger team, and the ability to adapt to and learn new systems when necessary.

The Augmented Worker

How we're using pioneering augmented reality for the construction industry with partners Microsoft, Laing O'Rourke and Sublime.

You will:

  • Have a good degree (or equivalent) or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering or science subject
  • Have an understanding of control systems
  • Need proven experience with mechanical design
  • Have the ability to work within a large team
  • Need the ability to adapt to and learn new systems when necessary.

The Integrated Manufacturing Group is part of the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) is a cluster of world-class centres for research into advanced manufacturing technologies used in the aerospace, power generation, medical and other high-value manufacturing sectors. The cluster has a global reputation for helping companies overcome manufacturing problems and has become a model for collaborative research involving universities, academics and industry, worldwide.
