We have a great opportunity in the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) for someone with a passion for engineering who is looking to use their skills in manufacturing to make an impact on UK productivity. Based within the Integrated Manufacturing Group (IMG), as a Project Engineer focusing on Computer Vision, you will work on a number of engineering projects such as development of visual systems and the use of AI. Furthermore, deriving information from images/videos and creating software solutions will be part of your responsibilities.
The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing helps manufacturers of any size to become more competitive by introducing advanced techniques, technologies and processes.
You will be required to use both a theoretical and hands-on approach to solve complex engineering challenges. Involvement in IMG is a fantastic opportunity to influence the way products are being manufactured and to develop innovative solutions to industrial problems in the UK. You will deal directly with some of the most advanced technologies and companies in the world. Some of these companies include Airbus, Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, Spirit AeroSystems, Laing O’Rourke and GKN, as well as diverse industries beyond aerospace.
This post is aimed at both recent graduates and applicants with relevant experience in a research or industrial environment.
The University of Sheffield AMRC builds on the success of the original AMRC with Boeing, creating a cluster of industry-focused manufacturing R&D centres and supporting facilities. The AMRC with Boeing, established in 2001, has grown to become a world-leading centre of advanced machining and materials research for aerospace and other high-value sectors. The Integrated Manufacturing Group has grown organically over the last seven years and is expanding further to meet demand from new digitally oriented projects. As the primary group to deliver Factory 2050, you will have hands-on experience with some of the most advanced technologies and companies in the world.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development. We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
