Technical Graduate

About us:

Tata Steel is one of the world’s most geographically diverse steel producers, with operations in 26 countries and commercial offices in over 35 countries.

In Europe we are one of the largest steel producers. But it’s not just our size that sets us apart. What makes us different is our approach to business. We believe our strength is how we build collaborative relationships that create new success for our customers

At Tata Steel, we pride ourselves on our world-class products, processes and people. We value individuality and believe that exposing people to genuine challenges on live projects fosters creativity and allows potential to be fulfilled. You’ll be exposed to real science from the outset and we expect you to relish the opportunity to show us what you’re made of.

Our Technical function ensures that our products and processes meet and exceed our customers’ exacting needs, both now and in the future. The roles are varied but the challenge is always the same: to develop and improve every grade of steel, so that it’s ready to meet the challenges of every possible application, from electrical use to aerospace and beyond. Technical excellence is at the heart of everything we do, underpinning areas including product development, asset development, quality assurance, metallurgical investigations and customer support.

More than steel

Take a look at what we do. Together we make the difference!

What we can offer you:

At Tata Steel, the promise of an individually tailored career is easy to keep.

You’ll have significant challenge and responsibility from the outset, in a company that aims for nothing less than world-class, with training and development to support you at every stage, there’s no better place to realise your potential.

Our two-year graduate programme offers an excellent opportunity for you to apply and develop your academic qualifications in a practical, real world setting. It offers a mix of on the job experience and practice-based learning, backed up by a thorough programme of formal training.

A tailor-made Talent Development and Management programme will support you along the way.

Our Technical teams are central to everything we do, project managing and problem-solving in support of our overarching business objectives. Highly skilled, imaginative and constantly learning, they help us to develop and improve the steel making process and enhance our capability to produce high value, high quality steel. From interpreting customer and end user requirements into new product developments, to processing and metallurgically evaluating our steel, the variety of experiences here is unlike any other company. Whatever your interest, there will be the scope to develop here.

About you:

You must have at least a 2:1 Degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry or Physics.

Driven, passionate and tenacious, your strong sense of personal accountability is bolstered by your eye for the bigger picture. Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to inspire trust and build engagement are also essential.
