Ananya Chandrasekar

Trainee Engineer

"I am grateful to have learnt The Toyota Way first hand and to have been a part of making process changes that will impact the future of TMUK."

My placement at Toyota has been the best learning experience in my career thus far. Until now I have only had lectures and lessons of theory to do with my course, Chemical Engineering, but I believe the most noticeable development I have had towards my career has been during this year. I worked in paintshop as a trainee engineer and was able to take on projects and lead them to completion.

Through courses and hands on experience I was able to develop leadership and organisational skills. I have even been able to improve my communication and presentation skills which are so important for my future as a student and in any career. The environment was so welcoming and was an open place to grow and ask questions. I was able to learn so much from senior engineers and managers. Every day was different with a new task to take on; there was always something new to learn. Toyota is known for its innovative methods and the Toyota Production System.

I am grateful to have learnt The Toyota Way first hand and to have been a part of making process changes that will impact the future of TMUK. This year gave me an insight to what working in industry is all about and I feel like I have been well prepared for my future graduate role.
