Job Description

A graduate developer position is currently open with one of our agile development squads. This is an opportunity to work on a large-scale enterprise application with a dynamic team.

We currently use several different technologies including: Oracle PL/SQL, Java and .NET/WPF. You will typically specialise in one with opportunities to learn the others in addition to new languages which we will be adding to our stack.

You will have the opportunity to learn about the software development at scale, the securities finance domain and how various teams in the organisation operate. Your team lead will work with you to provide training and allow you to shape your career.

Key Accountabilities:

  • The Graduate Developer shall embrace the 4Sight (Part of Broadridge Financial Solutions) purpose, values and vision.
  • Challenges the norm, actively looks to seek out new opportunities to improve the companies’ processes/systems

Software Development:

  • The Graduate Developer shall be involved in the development of new functions and modules for the SFCM products.
  • Development tasks should be completed in accordance with the agreed technical specifications & unit test scripts
  • Assignments are delivered on time.
  • Liaise with Development Director, Solutions Architect, Technical Architect, Senior Developers as appropriate to ensure the specifications and estimates are accurate where any ambiguity arises
  • Follows the companies Coding Standards & Design Patterns & Operating Procedures

Software Support and Maintenance

  • It may be necessary for the Graduate Developer to work in Support as and when required to assist in the management and resolution of support cases.
  • Participates in the support Rota – answering support calls received by telephone or email.
  • Assist when required, in the analysis of support issues and provide guidance and knowledge to the support teams.

Technical innovation

  • The Graduate Developer shall take a proactive approach to technical innovation.
  • Investigate new technologies as appropriate and suggest these for introduction to the product roadmap.
  • Review and implement software tools where applicable to improve quality, efficiency and reduce cost.

Knowledge Transfer

  • Active involvement in the knowledge transfer to allow staff to gain knowledge and understanding of the development cycle.
  • Show a willingness to increase business knowledge and become more system functionally focused.


  • Working with their manager the Graduate Developer shall identify external technical training required.
  • The Graduate Developer shall look for internal opportunities to improve their skills both within and out-with business hours

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Completion of timesheets daily and accurately.
  • Follows Operational Processes, including accurate upkeep of Jira.
  • Proactively informing their manager of their progress, especially if there is any possibility the task assigned to them will be completed after the agreed deadline.


Academic/Technical Qualifications:

  • Degree level/equivalent qualification in an IT related discipline or
  • 2+ Years proven commercial development experience

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Knowledge of, or experience in the ‘Agile’ development methodology. Attending Daily Scrums
  • Experience of working with financial markets applications, ideally with exposure to both real-time and database transaction processing applications is beneficial

Computer Skills:

  • Technical Development Skills in Java, .Net development or PL/SQL
  • Understanding and use of Source Control, Jira
  • Strong understanding of Development tools such as Visual Studio, Eclipse, IntelliJ etc
