We engage with design teams and procure projects to achieve best possible value from construction costs, market testing a minimum of 70% of the cost plan value for real time costing on our projects.
Quantity surveyors working in a consultancy capacity are often referred to as private quantity surveyors (PQS) whose role can be defined under multiple job titles such as cost consultant or cost manager.
As a cost consultancy graduate you will be in the Major Programmes team, focusing on complex multi-facetted projects that will have significant impact on local communities, such as London 2012. You will work closely with both main contractors and clients by providing authoritative commercial and risk advice. Responsibilities include producing cost plans, value engineering, negotiating cost variations and producing final accounts.

Mace’s cost consultancy team provides extensive training and support for graduates including RICS workshops, leading to professional RICS qualification. Graduates who do not have a RICS accredited degree may be required to complete a conversion course.
Mace’s cost consultancy graduates ideally have a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) accredited degree in quantity surveying. Other degrees are considered.
