"My role is very varied, working on multiple projects across the consult and construct engines."
I joined Mace in September 2021 following my degree in Environmental Science and now I am a Sustainability Assistant. I wanted to join Mace because pursuing a sustainable world is one of their priorities and I wanted to work for a company which aligns with my own values.
I would have loved to have worked on the Shard. Not only because it is the most iconic landmark on London’s skyline, but also because it was a pioneer at the time in terms of sustainability. Rated BREEAM ‘Excellent’, with 95% of its construction materials coming from recycled sources, it is a great example of sustainable construction.
My role is very varied, working on multiple projects across the consult and construct engines. For my consult projects, such as Northern Trust, I measure, report and reduce their corporate carbon emissions by undertaking analysis of energy data.
For construct, there is a greater emphasis on reducing the noise, vibration and dust associated with construction projects, as well as ensuring biodiversity is prioritised and green building certifications are met.
I think they would be thrilled that I secured a graduate job right in the city of London, working for a global company that offers great international opportunities. They would be pleased that I am enjoying it, whilst working and learning from some incredible colleagues who are leaders in the sustainability field.
