I joined Mace in September 2021 following my degree in Construction Management. I was interested in joining Mac because it was praised by my lecturers for their innovative projects and project management.
I am an Assistant Project Manager, and that means I play a part in delivering different aspects of the wider project. It means I provide assistance to the Senior Project Manager and Project Lead and act as a point of contact for our clients.
At Mace, professional development is highly encouraged and we have a huge directory of formal training that you can undertake to help you fulfil your role. In my personal experience, it is the on-the-job aspect of the graduate scheme that I value the most. This gives you one-to-one time with your manager to delve deeper into various aspects of delivering a successful project.
My favourite thing about my role is that everyday is different and you have to collaborate with lots of interesting people. The most satisfying part of my job is knowing what I do is valued, and I love the fact that I have so much responsibility given to me in high-value projects. Don’t let the responsibility put you off, as you will always have the support of your colleagues – but through the responsibility given to me, I have learned loads in the past year.
