Our People

Colin Munro, Deputy Development Manager, 2012 Graduate Programme

The variety of work undertaken over the course of a development project is huge, from the initial conceptual design and engagement with local stakeholder groups through to the management of multiple contracts to be finalised when we close a project.

Being part of a scheme from concept through to completion is incredibly rewarding and I’ve received a great mix of support and space to develop from the management team throughout the process. It’s a diverse and fast-paced environment with a strong team ethic which makes all the difference when the pressure’s on!

Mathilde Van Laer, Graduate Assistant Site Manager, Construction, London

Over the last few years, I’ve had the experience of working on two very different, complex projects. It’s been a steep learning curve and I’ve learnt a great deal technically, as well as the importance of adapting to different management styles and communicating effectively with all the various parties involved in a project.

It’s been great to work with such experienced individuals and it’s given me the confidence and skills to take responsibility for a key element in a high profile project – something I’m enormously proud of.

Rhys Cresswell, Assistant Site Manager, 2016 Graduate Programme

The support and training I received in the first year of the graduate programme really helped with the transition to working life. My line managers have been genuinely interested in my personal and professional development and given me a good balance of responsibility and support.

I love how varied the work is and the range of experience within the project teams. Being based in the office and on site has given me access to a range of skilled professionals and this has really helped to understand the different processes involved in delivering a project. Seeing a project progress from the initial drawings right through to completion has been brilliant – undoubtedly one of the most rewarding parts of this job.

Sam Bailey, Design Co-ordinator, 2014 Graduate Programme

Since joining the Graduate Programme in 2014, I’ve had exposure to the breadth of expertise we have in the UK, both at Bouygues UK and at our Bouygues Construction sister company Bouygues Travaux Publics, who we work with collaboratively on a number of major UK projects. Understanding the numerous ways that different individuals and teams work together – often incorporating external consultants – has been a brilliant learning experience.

The project we are given in the first year of the Graduate Programme where the graduate teams present our proposals to the board is a really good way to build our confidence and autonomy. Working as a team also provides a chance to share our experiences of working at Bouygues UK and gain insight into other aspects of the business.

Jordan Evans, Design Co-ordinator, 2014 Graduate Programme

Since joining Bouygues UK as a graduate in August 2014 I’ve worked on seven different schemes, each with different objectives and challenges. Collaborating with so many different project teams has really helped to develop my professional design skills and build good working relationships for the future.

The graduate programme is a good mix of training to support different aspects of corporate life as well as exposure to senior management which provides a really useful insight into the organisation and the industry. It’s also included the rare opportunity to abseil off the side of a crane as part of our HSQE crane rescue strategy which was definitely one of the most exciting challenges I’ve experienced so far!

Tom King, Senior Sustainability Co-ordinator, 2014 Graduate Programme

At Bouygues UK I have been exposed to some of the most exciting constructions projects in the UK and given central responsibilities in projects that I never thought possible at this stage of my career.

Throughout a project’s journey you are faced with a vast array of challenges and you need to be able to adapt and influence at each stage. I’ve been given a huge amount of support and encouragement to achieve this which has made successfully reaching completion on projects all the more rewarding.
