Having already worked on several high profile projects, I’ve recognised the intensity which often occurs when a project is in the final stages of being completed and I’ve learnt how to keep calm under pressure. I’ve also gained the additional confidence to not only present at meetings, but to host them.
Witnessing transformation of areas, being involved in the procurement processes for multiple trades, and then seeing everything in real life, is so rewarding.
I have worked with multiple managers, learning how to take the best traits from them. And I’ve learned that it’s important to recognise that everyone has an important part to play.
It’s great working for Bouygues UK, with global expertise to learn from, and the level of responsibility you are given is based on ability not age.
My advice is to gather as much experience as possible - on different projects and in different departments. Be confident and ask every question that pops into your head. The only way to become the wisest person you can possibly be is by listening to others.
