Undergraduate Transport Planner - Summer Placement

The Role:

We are looking for an undergraduate with a genuine enthusiasm for Transport Planning to work in our Birmingham office for 8-10 weeks over the summer 2017. This is an opportunity to gain some valuable work experience over the summer working within and supporting the Birmingham Transport Planning team. You will work within a proactive team environment.

Our Transport Teams undertake development planning work, providing advice to private sector and local authority clients on access and transportation issues and supporting development proposals through the planning process. The team works closely with our Infrastructure Services, Structures and Environmental teams on larger multi-disciplinary development proposals.

Tasks are likely to include:

  • Basic CAD work
  • Swept path analysis C
  • Commissioning traffic surveys
  • Traffic survey analysis
  • Preparation of traffic flow diagrams
  • Trip rate generation
  • Undertaking site visits
  • Supportive administrative work

To apply you should have the following:

  • Be studying towards a BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering or relevant subject
  • Have a basic knowledge of Traffic Assessments, Travel Plans, Transport Statements
  • Have a basic knowledge of Manual for Streets and relevant Highway standards
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
