Are you curious about how water is taken from the environment, treated and delivered into your home and enjoy solving complex problems where there are even more complex solutions?
Do you want to work for a company that provides an essential service to our customers and communities where you live?
Do you want to work somewhere where your technical, leadership and personal development is key to our success?
If these challenges excite you, then the Affinity Water Engineering, Asset Management and Scientific Graduate Scheme could be for you.
We’re looking for candidates with the energy, drive, curiosity and willingness to challenge to become our next generation of Asset Managers, Engineers and Scientists, working within our Asset Planning, Strategic Asset Management, Water Resources, Environment and Investment Programme teams.
You’ll be using scientific and engineering principles to make sound, evidence-based decisions to get the best value-for-money for our customers, while protecting the local environment, increasing resilience, improving sustainability, and supporting development of our long-term plans.
We’re looking for candidates we can invest in for the long term, who’d like to learn and develop to take leadership roles within Asset Strategy & Capital Delivery in the next 5 years.
As an entrant into our two-year graduate programme, you’ll gain accreditation through a relevant professional body along with a cohort comprising of fellow graduates and current Affinity Water employees. You’ll also be given dedicated time to focus on your own training and personal development.
With dedication and hard work, by the end of the programme, you’ll not only have a comprehensive overview of all aspects of your technical specialism, you’ll also have learned about other areas of our business, and you will be equipped with the key foundational skills & knowledge to have a successful career in Asset & Capital Delivery.
You’ll be based at our head office in Hatfield but will also be travelling throughout our company area stretching from Dover in the south to Clacton in the east, as well as our home county regions in and around London.
At Affinity Water, we don’t just talk about promoting a healthy work/life balance, we give our staff the tools to achieve it and we provide a hybrid working approach.
As a Graduate we appreciate you won’t be the finished article just yet, but you will need to have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in an Engineering or Science discipline.
You will also need to have strong numerical fluency, analytical capabilities and skills in technical report writing. Additionally, we want applicants who have a desire to understand complex projects and programmes, who are excellent communicators and who are curious.
Importantly, any successful applicant will also be interested in learning from technical and industry-leading experts on wide-ranging topics including improving biodiversity, managing water resources, asset health and resilience, understanding and prioritising risks and developing strategies to safeguard our company’s future.
You’ll be motivated to complete the Asset Management accreditation training and find ways to put your learning into practice on a daily basis.
Ultimately, you’ll be on the fast-track to a mission-critical leadership role in an industry that’s trying to solve one of the major sustainable challenges of the 21st century, while making a positive difference to the local environment and local communities.
*Applications should be made on or before 1st March 2022.
*The Graduate programme will commence September 2022.
