We are looking for a passionate and driven individual to join our Research and Development Process & Formulation Team as an Associate Scientist working in Oral Care. Oral Care is an exciting, fast growing, and innovative category with a high growth potential.

You will have broad responsibilities in defining, initiating, and delivering regional product innovation in Europe Oral Care Chemistry to delight European consumers with our products. You will act as point of contact for Process and Formulation, working closely with multifunctional research and development teams and the manufacturing site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, qualify, and document regional product initiatives to help drive global initiatives to market readiness.
  • Design, execute and document experimental studies for prototypes at laboratory and pilot scale to develop or modify products to meet differing consumer and regulatory & safety needs.
  • Execute test methods, analysing the data and driving conclusions to actions.
  • Lead change management for processes, raise requests for product safety and regulatory clearances of materials.
  • As projects get closer to market readiness, you will also be required to own regional technical readiness and start up activities at manufacturing sites.
  • Design, create and maintain Product Specifications for Oral Care products in our data systems, understand and create hierarchy of specifications, manage approval flows and understand and apply different requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant standards, e.g. Good Manufacturing Practice.

Required Skills

Required skills/experiences for the role:

  • Education: A minimum of a Masters’ degree in Science.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English.
  • Geography: Ability to work permanently in the UK.

Other important requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in formulated chemistry for regulated Health Care products.
  • Comfortable leading laboratory work. Pilot plant scale formulation and process development work is also an advantage.
  • Collaboration skills, and the ability to work across multiple functions and geographies.
  • Strong initiative and follow-through with accountability for work quality.
  • Excellent attention to detail, technical curiosity, adaptability, good communication and presentation skills.
  • Organisational skills and solution-oriented attitude to handle a complex product-country portfolio.
  • Aptitude and experience with data systems and project management is an advantage.
