The Modelling & Simulation (M&S) group at Procter & Gamble is offering a 12-month Postdoctoral placement starting as soon as possible with a location that is flexible between Reading and Newcastle upon Tyne. In this role the candidate will:

  • Apply equations of state to model the thermodynamic equilibrium of our fluid-based products.
  • Employ equations of state and non-Newtonian rheology models to develop flowsheet simulation models for our production plants.
  • Develop the infrastructure to translate processing specifications into physical property information for use in flowsheet simulators.
  • Work with internal customers to apply these models to solving business problems.
  • Collaborate with software vendors and academic collaborators to develop and advance our capabilities in these areas as needed.

Qualifications

Requirements (skills / experiences) for the role:

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering or related disciplines.
  • PhD thesis which focuses on the application of thermodynamic models, especially equation of state models, to problems of fluid phase equilibria.
  • Proven knowledge (through publications, presentations or reports) of how to set up, calibrate and validate thermodynamic equation of state models.
  • Solid understanding of Computer programming, Database Management and Python.
  • Knowledgeable of the SAFT equation of state.
  • Strong understanding of and experience using gPROMS, Aspen Custom Modeler, Modelica-based tools, or other equation-oriented modelling capabilities.
