Turf Care Center of Excellence

Jacobsen begun moving all of its manufacturing to its facility in Ipswich, UK. The move began last fall and will be completed in stages over the next several months.


At our Turf Care Centre of Excellence in Ipswich, we specialise in manufacturing turf care maintenance equipment. We are driving to electrify our whole range of vehicles, and as such have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Manufacturing Engineer to drive this forward. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with the current engineering and production teams to ensure seamless roll out of parts and products into production;
  • Specifying, developing and delivering manufacturing processes, ensuring that safety, quality, production and cost standards are met;
  • Designing and implementing cell layout using lean methodologies;
  • Providing line inventory presentation solutions based on volume requirements;
  • Providing engineering support regarding setting up standard times, TAKT Time, assembly sequencing and line balancing;
  • Identifying, designing and supplying required tooling and equipment solutions;
  • Implementing Standard Operating Procedures where required;
  • Managing and identifying opportunities to eliminate process bottlenecks and troubleshoot processes for their relevance;
  • Generating and managing open issue list, ensuring timely resolution;
  • Working closely with the production team to sustain, improve processes and controls in existing production lines – where required;
  • Other tasks as required.

Qualifications/Skills/Education Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering or Electrical Engineering or similar;
  • Experience of electric and hybrid vehicles;
  • Understanding of electric motors, battery technologies and controls, charging systems, and wiring harnesses;
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Techniques and Six Sigma;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of PFMEA, SPC and Quality Control Techniques;
  • Experience of electric and hybrid vehicles desirable;
  • Understanding of electric motors/drives/generators and motor control, energy storage and charging systems, and wiring harnesses desirable;
  • Knowledge of CAD systems to generate design of parts and tooling;
  • Ability to work with staff at differing levels;
  • Good understanding of ISO & OHSAS requirements;
  • Strong communication skills, very customer focused;
  • Ability to assess and upgrade procedures and systems;
  • Team player;
  • Versatile and a self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
