Technical Consultant Graduate

The VMware Academy is an extensive training program that prepares graduates for a career in the Professional Services Organisation (PSO). The Academy involves a 20-week structured plan of technical, product, consulting, and soft skills training for all participants. Following training, successful participants will progress to a technical Consulting role based in the EMEA head office in Staines, UK where they will contribute to the success of the business working with customers throughout Europe. We're looking for people who have a passion for technology, have strong business ethics and great interpersonal skills.

Role Description:

The VMware PSO Consultant helps our customers to transform their businesses through the adoption of state-of-the-art VMware solutions. The Professional Services team takes ownership of all technical aspects of customer delivery from the initial gathering of requirements to implementing and testing a solution that meets the customer’s needs. Through close collaboration with pre-sales, product management and engineering, this team builds long term internal and external contacts, ensuring success in our customer’s adoption of VMware’s industry leading solutions.

You will receive a structured training program which includes:

  • 10-weeks of hands-on training based in Cork (Ireland), in state-of-the-art virtualisation, container, Software Defined Datacenter and Cloud technology that is highly desired in the IT industry
  • A further 10-weeks of practical hands-on development based in Staines (UK), with an emphasis on case study based “learning by doing”
  • Mentoring, coaching and sponsorship for career development
  • Effective communications training to ensure great customer interactions
  • Customer and partner facing activities and tasks, providing real-world experience
  • Commercial and technical presentation training

Your key responsibilities are:

  • You will design and implement VMware’s virtualisation, Software Defined Datacenter, cloud and container technologies according to Agile or Waterfall methodologies
  • Conduct engagements independently or as part of a project team
  • Collaborate with VMware project teams which could consist of VMware pre-sales architects, engineers, product managers and support staff
  • Assist architects and project managers in design workshops; mapping VMware solutions to the customer’s technical requirements whilst functioning as an advisory resource for “Best Practices”
  • Maintain current, high-level technical knowledge of the entire VMware product line and future product direction, and expert level knowledge of the core VMware product line and SDDC

Graduate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Computer Science, MIS/BIS, Engineering or Science.
  • Commercial IT knowledge or software development abilities
  • A persistent, self-starter with a track record of success in their academic career to date
  • Enthusiastic communication manner, excellent listening, interpersonal and writing skills
  • Willingness to learn, with a real passion for all relevant aspects of technology.
  • You are a standout colleague who works with integrity to succeed in a high-energy, dynamic environment
  • You should enjoy working with leading edge technology and being a key member of an outstanding team
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Fluency in English is needed
  • Full UK Driving License is needed
