We’re a leader in one of the most exciting industries in the world. We continually push what’s possible with the latest technologies, and respond to the most mission-critical needs of our customers. We’re looking for people in a variety of roles – but they’ll be special kinds of people. Could you be one of them?
At Abaco, we never forget those who serve and why what we do is important.
The purpose of the role is to experience software development on Abaco’s range of NETernity switch networking products. The duration of the role is for 12 months, and you must be able to start at the end of July/beginning of August depending on the intake date.
Our Software Engineers are responsible for the design, development and test of Abaco’s OpenWare switch management suite, which forms the heart of all Abaco’s NETernity network switch products. In this role, individuals will have the opportunity to gain exposure to all aspects of development in our Edinburgh based networking innovation centre.
Software development mostly uses C programming and is targeted at variety of hardware platforms which include PowerPC and ARM processors and switch fabric SOCs from vendors such as Broadcom and Intel, running our own custom GNU/Linux distribution based around Yocto. As a software intern you will be part of the OpenWare team, which is responsible for the complete software stack, working alongside Product Managers, Production/Test and Electronic Engineers to provide an exceptional software product for our military and aerospace customers. The twelve month internship will allow you to discover what we do and how we do it, and for us to learn from and about you. Our previous interns are our first port of call when looking for new graduates and our graduate scheme recognises the knowledge and experience that our returning interns bring back to the business.
At Abaco, we know that our people are our strength and we have a great mix of young talented people, supported by experienced senior engineers. We’re a team with a common goal. We are passionate about what we do and rely on innovation and being open-minded to help us succeed. We’re not just given responsibility – we’re actively encouraged to make things happen. Oh, and – we have fun. If that sounds like your kind of organisation – why not join us?
We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.
