On a flexible rotational programme, you’ll spend time in several teams within the information technology department. Our work affects the whole organisation, meaning you’ll be partnering with colleagues in HR, finance, rail services and other operational areas on a daily basis too. You could be implementing cutting-edge, innovative technologies and applications like digital railway traffic management and accident prevention, or taking a leading role in the delivery of a significant business change initiative.
You can expect to experience a variety of challenging roles across the department, such as project management, service management, information systems strategy and application support. Typical responsibilities include supporting special projects for senior leaders, preparing and delivering internal presentations and reports, reactive work managing risks and issues, and preparing month end financial reports. You may also be required to provide leadership to small project teams.

It’s a highly flexible scheme that enables you to drive your own learning. The scheme manager is responsible for setting up your first rotational placement, but thereafter it’s up to you. You choose which functions you’d like to experience and tailor your programme to suit your skills, strengths and interests. The scheme manager will also support you with continuous coaching through face-to-face meetings. To help you gain a broader insight to our organisation, you can choose to spend one of your placements working in a function outside of IT.
