"The importance of training and development is considered to be very important within AECOM"
BA (Hons) Human Geography at Sheffield Hallam University & MA Town and Regional Planning at Sheffield University.
I commenced with URS in February 2015 just before our merger with AECOM. I am primarily based in the Transport Modelling team but have had the opportunity to work with the Transport Planning team, giving me the chance to develop a wide range of skills, see the integration between teams and work on a range of projects at different scales. Over this four month period, I have been involved with modelling the Northamptonshire area using specialised transport modelling software, processing traffic count data and attending travel events giving sustainable transport advice to organisations. This has allowed me to utilise and develop my skills learnt throughout my degree and identify how these skills integrate into “real life” projects.
The importance of training and development is considered to be very important within AECOM. Already I have undertaken courses in GIS and transport modelling which have provided me with background and foundations to the role. These courses have also allowed me to network with other graduates from different disciplines and working on different project’s allowing a variety of skill mix and experience to be shared. In the near future I will be working towards my APC allowing me to progress my professional development.
