Job description

Enjoy a summer earning while you learn how EY’s Actuarial teams help different types of insurance companies set and meet their business goals. You’ll not only get a feel for the business world with on-the-job experience, but also opportunities to meet influential experts and gain new skills that will shape the rest of your career.

Why EY?

How can we help you to succeed? What makes us different? If you want the answers to those questions in just 80 seconds view this animated summary.

What is Actuarial at EY?

Our fast-changing world can create lots of opportunity for insurance businesses, but it also creates new risks. We help our clients identify these risks by carrying out complex calculations, asking the right questions, setting priorities and creating action plans for success.

What will you be doing?

You’ll join either our General Insurance or Life Insurance teams and start contributing to real client projects alongside our teams and Partners. Before too long, you’ll be doing similar work to our graduates, which could include:

  • Analysing data and writing reports
  • Contributing towards proposals for new business pitches
  • Using modelling and analysis techniques to understand clients’ businesses
  • Communicating with local and global clients and presenting your work.

If everything works out well, you could even secure a job here after you graduate.

Entry requirements

If you’ve achieved an A in A-Level maths (or Scottish Higher equivalent) and you’re in your penultimate year at university (any STEM degree course) or, if you’re already in your final year but will be doing a one-year master’s degree or taking a gap year, this internship is for you. You’ll also need to have obtained a minimum of Level 2 GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths as well as three A-levels, 5 Highers or equivalent.

“You can’t imagine how great an experience it is and how much you learn working with people within EY” Ross, Summer Intern, Actuarial
