What is Technology Consulting at EY?

Our job is to understand what technological challenges our clients are facing, and then deliver market leading solutions to help them improve how they work. Within Technology Consulting, we fuse business insight with technology, digital and data solutions to transform our client’s businesses.

Why belonging at work matters

EY people share highlights from a new survey of UK employees across different industries.

What will you be doing?

  • Working across a range of industries to address technology challenges for our clients
  • Building your knowledge in a range of market leading digital and emerging technologies
  • Leveraging the expertise of our teams to shape our client's technology agenda
  • Helping our clients plan and deliver organisation-wide transformation programmes
  • You’ll also be expected to be flexible and spend large proportions of your time away from your office.

Are you eligible to apply?

If you’re in your penultimate year at university and your course includes a placement year, this programme is for you. We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will however, need to be working towards an honours degree in any STEM subject, and have a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths and three A-levels/Five Highers (or equivalent) to be eligible to apply.

We're looking for students that have a passion and interest in technology and it's an added bonus if you have some experience of: SQL, Python, R, VBA, SPSS or Minitab and experience with databases, data analysis/manipulation and reporting.

We welcome applications from all academic backgrounds and are looking for individuals who will succeed at EY in the desired role and future qualifications, therefore throughout our recruitment process your academic performance will be considered against your online assessment scores to determine your suitability for an EY role. We are also proud to partner with RARE recruitment, so that your application can be processed in the context of your socio-economic background. This allows us to give you the maximum credit for your achievements, assessing whether you have overachieved in light of your personal circumstances.

How’s it structured?

Over 11 months, you’ll have access to lots of different experiences and learning opportunities. We'll help you develop the skills to decipher how each client problem is different and to find innovative and sound ways of solving them.

If you join Financial Services (FS) you’ll work on a variety of projects for leading global financial services clients and will be encouraged and expected to take responsibility for your projects. During the programme you'll get exposure to a range of sectors across Financial Services including Wealth & Asset Management, Banking & Capital Markets and Insurance.

If you join UK & Ireland (UK&I), you’ll learn to apply business and technology knowledge across any area of organisations, working in our Technology teams. You will gain exposure to one or multiple areas across Data & Analytics, Technology Transformation and EY AgilityWorks, where you will learn to apply leading technologies to solve real client problems.

You'll attend training courses alongside our graduates and have access to learning and development resources as well as a supportive team to lend a hand. Since no two projects will be the same, we’ll coach and mentor you in a way that will prepare you for anything. You'll also be part of an large community with our graduates which is a great opportunity to build your network, participate in corporate sustainability events and develop your leadership skills.

At the end of the placement, if you’re great at your job, you could be asked to join one of our graduate programmes once you’ve finished university.
