Cala’s 2022 Cohort of Graduates

Added: Over a year ago by Cala Group

Our Graduate Development Programme, which is now in its eighth year, is part of our growing programme of initiatives to promote early talent across the business, which also includes placements, degree apprenticeships and engaging with schools.

Our graduates will each follow a bespoke and tailored route through our business, and will take part in several development modules, designed to support personal development in the early part of their career.

Our graduates also receive a comprehensive range of employee benefits and learning and development opportunities.

Rod Pearson, Head of People, said: “It’s an exciting time for young people to join the industry with customer needs, regulations, design and methods of construction evolving at pace. In particular, our own approach to sustainability and technology is undergoing dramatic transformation, offering fantastic opportunities for our teams."

“At Cala, our goal is to cultivate early talent in a strategic way, developing our talent pool with a long-term view that will benefit our business and the young people we engage with, while championing the industry overall as an exciting career option.”

“A key focus is on ensuring we deliver an outstanding experience for those who join our team - whether for a short placement, a longer internship or as a first step on the career ladder.”

Our 2022 graduates include: Yongshun Li (Jack Li), Shamim Ghannad and Ciara Fagan who all joined our Group team; Jake Barnes (land team) and Aishlin McGowan who joined our team in our Cotswolds region; Kyla Farman who joined our South Homes Counties region; and Euan Kinross who joined the commercial team in the West of Scotland region.

Ciara Fagan, who joined our sales and transformation team, plays a key role in change projects and new technology across the business. She said: “The Cala culture is about trust, integrity and balance. From the very beginning I have been welcomed, encouraged to achieve my full potential and given space to get the work done.

“It’s very special to come into a job where you know everyone is acting in the best interests of each other and the company, but especially that everyone is willing to and wants to help you with the start of your career.”

One of our graduate programme success stories is Michael Clements, who is now a Land Manager. Michael said: “I started my Cala career in 2017 after university and on completion of the graduate programme, I moved into a Land Buyer role in the west of Scotland team.”

“I would highly recommend Cala’s graduate programme to those looking to make a first step into the workplace. It is a great opportunity to kickstart your career, and to continue your learning alongside the practicality of the working world. Whilst university prepares you for working towards deadlines, the graduate programme changes your perspective and teaches you how best to operate within a team."
