Established in 1951 by John Murphy, J. Murphy & Sons Limited has grown into a leading global, multi-disciplined engineering and construction company with turnover of £780 million. We provide a wide range of construction services to infrastructure sectors including rail, water, power and natural resources.
Murphy directly employs more than 4,000 engineers, professional managers and skilled operatives across the world. We operate in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, USA, Australia and the Middle East.
We have a number of specialist capabilities such as pipelines, process, marine, tunneling and piling, and we invest heavily in our substantial holding of plant, equipment and facilities.
At Murphy, our depth of knowledge and experience in water and wastewater engineering underpins all our projects and it is essential to us that we continue to maintain the efficiency of the country’s water services. We deal with treatment plants, lagoons, reservoirs, pumping stations, tunnelling, wastewater networks, or watermain construction and renovation.
We pride ourselves on early contractor involvement, through design, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance.
Murphy has had success over the years in asset management plan (AMP) cycles which has cemented our reputation as a strong delivery partner. We have a vast pool of our own plant and labour resources which means that we can mobilise our teams quickly and effectively.
As a provider of intelligent solutions for the water sector we support clients that include Yorkshire Water, Severn Trent Water, United Utilities, South West Water and Affinity Water. We work on current AMP6 frameworks and for clients such as Bristol Water, Thames Water IA and eight2O on leakage reduction and trunk main and lead pipe replacement programmes.
We add value to our clients’ services and offer niche services that complement our full range of water sector capabilities, such as tunnelling, pipelines, piling, power, and our specialist services business, Pipeline Testing Services (PTS). We also work alongside strategic partners in several joint ventures.
Working alongside other specialists enables us to offer total, joined-up solutions that meet the most exacting delivery strategy.
