Wiley Edge Alumni and Production Support Analyst at one of the top investment banks in Montreal

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOURSELF

I moved to Canada two years ago, and I really struggled to start my career. When you do not have work experience in Canada, it can be hard to find a job in your field, even if you have 10 years of experience in your home country.

I applied for roles in Data management, Data analysis and Cybersecurity with no success and kept looking, studying, and applying. Eventually I found the job opportunities with Wiley Edge and decided to apply. I went through the selection process and I quickly got a technical interview with a client. It was great to feel valued for who I am, for my potential and my background.

Once I got an offer, I was able to join the tailored training. This training helped me to gain experience, understand the workplace, culture and corporate world. I learned so much.

It was a wonderful journey for me, and I am thankful to be part of it.

The Wiley Edge Graduate Program has a very positive impact, the training is precious and the guidance before client interviews is outstanding, everything has been well lined up. Very happy to be associated with Wiley Edge. Very thankful to my recruiter and the whole Wiley Edge team for bringing this opportunity to me, it changed my life.

WHAT ARE YOUR CURRENT ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES?

I am now working as a Production Support Analyst. It involves a little bit of scripting, within financial scenarios. I am supporting the production issues.

Currently, I am still learning a lot. We try to resolve problems as soon as possible. It requires proactivity, logic and problem-solving skills.

I chose to be in production support, as I learned programming within my education, thus I was looking for a career where I can efficiently use my technical skills. I have been exposed to some of the tasks where I had to use my scripting knowledge. This role helps me to develop my curiosity, autonomy, creativity and develop additional skills every day.

Day One is different from Day Two and it keeps going like that. We are learning new things, including aspects of the financial industry that I wasn’t aware of. The financial world is so complex and fascinating.

The first three months have been crucial to my knowledge and professional development.

WHAT IS YOUR MESSAGE TO GRADUATES WANTING TO ENTER THE SAME FIELD AS YOU?

Today I feel happy, fulfilled and this is only the beginning. I still have a lot to learn within this journey.

It is important to have a supportive environment, to support you in your career choice, and have a good balance between work and personal life.

If you believe you want to enter this field, you can definitely do it, with training and professional support. You have all skills required and you only need to believe in yourself.
