A vacancy has arisen for a Trainee Accountant in the Finance department at our Denham site. The position covers a range of accounting functions, providing the employee with the opportunity to gain core finance office experience. The role works closely with various members of the Finance team and has exposure to the Sourcing and Commercial functions. Study support will be provided and progression will be both supported and expected.

Areas of responsibility

Accounts Payable:

  • Statement reconciliations
  • Invoices emails inbox – morning daily review / distribution
  • GRIR / invoice failure resolution including working closely with the Sourcing function
  • General cover for all other AP aspects.

Accounts Receivable:

  • Full understanding and part time coverage of the bookkeeping function
  • Assistance in debt recovery, working closely with the Financial Accountant / Commercial function
  • General cover for all other AR aspects.

Commissions:

  • Full understanding and calculation of agents’ commissions for payment in a timely manner
  • Constant review / liaison with Commercial to ensure real time accuracy of commission accruals.

Expenses:

  • Assisting in the preparation and the reconciliation of:
    • Corporate Purchasing Card
    • Barclaycard
    • Forthcoming new expenses system.

Period End:

  • Assisting in the preparation of month / quarter / year end reporting.

General:

  • Occasional support for the Chief Accountant
  • Ad hoc scanning and pdf creation as required.

Education & qualifications:

  • Finance / Business degree or equivalent
  • Relevant degree subjects ideal but not essential.

Specific / technical skill:

  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Macro level Excel skills would be beneficial.

Person specification:

  • Ability to work across multiple tasks at the same time liaising with multiple departments
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to work as part of a cross-functional team
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.

Knowledge & experience:

This is an entry level role designed for someone with a relevant degree (or equivalent) who has:

  • Willingness to work towards ACCA/CIMA qualification
  • Drive and passion with a desire to understand how business works
  • Work experience within a relevant role would be beneficial.

As part of this, we will need to confirm your identity, employment history and address history to cover the past five years as well as your nationality, immigration status and criminal record. For positions that require Security Clearance, the successful candidate must hold or be willing to obtain security clearance up to the relevant level for the role.
