A vacancy has arisen for a Quality Control Engineer in the Quality Control department at the Denham site. The position provides support to manufacturing, co-ordinating remedial and improvement activities with the aim of achieving zero defects in all aspect of quality and delivery.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Disposition of reject parts put on hold to ensure specification and production requirements are met.
  • Resolve customer concerns using best practice quality tools and techniques.
  • Measure manufacturing performance against the goal of Zero Defects and implement countermeasures. Document and publish production's performance and progress on the Quality Scorecard.
  • Assess production's process and system conformance through Spot Checks and where necessary, drive and support in the implement corrective actions.
  • Assess production's conformance to key documented processes and ensure all necessary training is in place and auditable.
  • Support the review of production documentation such as process specifications, drawings, build plans and test procedures.
  • Support production in the completion of internal corrective actions and improvement plans.
  • Support the business during external audits and the resolution of none-conformance.
  • To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required/instructed to maintain and/or improve the efficiency, quality and service provided by the Quality Department.

Education & Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Advanced Vocational Qualification ie. HND in Mechanical Engineering.

Specific/Technical Skill

  • Familiar and practised the use of root cause analysis tools and techniques.
  • Practical understanding of common manufacturing quality control methods.
  • Able to analyse current practices and plan longer term improvements
  • Able to ensure the completion and validation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Attention to detail in preparation and publication of work for product or process incidents.
  • Able to communicate in a constructive manner with personnel at various levels within the organisation and with the customer and supplier representatives.
  • Can work under pressure to balance competing job priorities to agreed deadlines.
  • Computer literate
  • Able to grasp technical issues quickly and lead and assist in problem-solving activities.
  • Thorough questioning style
  • A structured and methodical work style

Knowledge & Experience 

  • Understanding of the use of best practice quality tools and technique is essential.
  • Experience working within aerospace, defence, or automotive environment is desirable.
  • MBA product knowledge would be beneficial.
