We have two powerhouse brands in Harringtons and Wagg, with the former being the fastest-growing brand in the pet food category in the UK. We are the number one manufacturer in the UK for dry dog food and we are expanding fast into new categories, such as wet food, treats, cat, etc.
We have invested more than £55M in our supply chain facilities over the last fifteen years and have impressive facilities near Thirsk, North Yorkshire and in Kinmel, North Wales. As you have probably gathered, though we compete with the big blue-chip manufacturers, we are a medium-sized business that is very agile and dynamic. This means that you will be a key player from day one and though we will invest heavily in your personal development, you will also be delivering a benefit to the business from the beginning.
Our graduate scheme offers an opportunity to give you skills to kick-start your manufacturing career. In the first instance you will be a driver of Autonomous maintenance as a line owner responsible for a £2m, 50 metres long line, running 24 hours a day 4-5 days a week. We will also support you to develop your skills in people management and help you to lead a team as a Team Leader or Shift Manager. For your final placement, we will agree with you where within our business this will be.
We are offering opportunities in both of our factories; Kinmel, Wales and Thirsk, North Yorkshire and whichever site you are based at, there will likely be travel to our other site.
For the 12 – 18 months you will work on the £2m state-of-the-art line. You will learn about owning and running the line. This will include learning the process with the line team and support services such as maintenance and Quality Assurance. You will learn the theory of autonomous maintenance and other best practice methodologies with the aim to improve line efficiency by 20%.
Team Leader/Shift Manager
Within the Team Leader/Shift Manager role you will gain experience of managing people. We will coach you to develop your own management style. We will help you develop your skills by setting a vision with your team, setting expectations through one-to-ones and providing people with the right environment to flourish.
Dependent on your skills, interest area and also business need we will look to place you within an area of the business to give you a sound understating of how our business works. This could potentially be in any of the following departments; Quality Assurance, Planning, Procurement, Marketing, Finance or within our factory at a different site.
