We are offering an exciting opportunity for a graduate Fire Safety Engineer to join our team of experts undertaking fire engineering advisory services for a wide range of clients in both the commercial and public sectors.

We are the world leading authority on all aspects of the built environment. We are an independent building science centre with over 90 years' experience and leading edge facilities.

The successful candidate will join our Fire Engineering Team part of the larger Fire Safety and Building Technologies Group, located upon our Garston site (near Watford). The primary role will involve the provision of fire consultancy advice to our clients for both new and existing buildings throughout the UK and overseas. This position will also include providing support to our research, fire risk assessment and fire investigations teams as needed.

The successful candidate should have good knowledge of fire dynamics and fire engineering principles and knowledge of the UK Building Regulations, Codes and Standards.

 This position requires the successful candidate to be client facing, and there is an expectation that the applicant will be comfortable and competent at maintaining client contact, meeting with clients and undertaking presentations when required.

The successful candidate will require:

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Fire Safety Engineering, or similar engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of fire dynamics and basic fire engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of the British Building Regulations and standard guidance documents (ADB, BS 9999 etc.)
  • Knowledge of Computational Methods or Computational Fluid Dynamics. FDS and Pyrosim skills preferred.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Good skills with Office Word and Excel (or similar).
  • Good spoken and written English.
