As a Procurement Graduate you will work closely with colleagues in other departments (such as Engineering and Manufacturing), both to learn the key role Procurement plays in an Integrated Project Team (IPT) based business model and to develop the collaboration skills necessary to influence the relationship with our suppliers.
As part of our ongoing commitment to young peoples' educational development (demonstrated by our latest Gold level accreditation by Investors in Young People) all graduates UK wide will attend short modules away from the office throughout the 2 years to develop yourself and network across the company; examples include orientation, self-awareness, tackling business problems all underlined by Leonardo's core strategies.
Your role will give you exposure to the full life cycle of supplier management which is fully integrated with business context to provide you with a broad baseline of skills and experience.
Whether you are helping to set supplier strategies, selecting new suppliers or managing their day-to-day performance you will receive high quality support and mentoring, backed by a strong network of Procurement professionals on your site and also across the UK.
Key Responsibility Areas
Develop strong relationships with the supplier base, the internal customer base and the internal supply chain
Ability to learn, lead & co-ordinate the supplier selection process in order to ensure the supply solution provides quality, reliability, strategic fit & value for money
Effectively manage key supplier sub contracts throughout the contract life cycle including monitoring of performance, risk, change, compliance with requirements & cost
Support the business Procurement Team by contributing to the development of processes, practices and systems which enhance their capability to deliver a high performing supply chain and effectively manage supplier performance
Analysis of data to present and challenge existing processes and offer innovative alternatives that benefit the wider business
Seeking & harnessing innovative solutions from existing and future supply chain partners in order to meet the business needs which includes monitoring key players, newcomers, economic evolution & market trends
Obtain a good understanding of the use of SAP Systems & key procurement tools across the Procurement life cycle, including planning, sourcing, cost analysis, negotiation and the creation of all types of purchase orders
Learn, develop and utilise a negotiation skillset to apply in supplier negotiations in order to maximise value to all parties
Demonstrate over time, an awareness of our core business management approach and procurement process including the ability to produce Procurement Plans and identify areas of risks and opportunities and be an effective member of process improvement projects
Ability to develop agreements, terms & conditions and provide evidence to ensure compliance with both internal and customer governance
Develop networks across the UK sites through the graduate programme and able to arrive motivated and prepared for short modules which align personal development against the core strategies within Leonardo.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required
All of our roles require (a) a minimum of an upper Second class Bachelors/Integrated Masters degree, or (b) a higher degree, such as a MSc or PhD. In all cases the subject should be engineering, mathematics, physics or another relevant discipline.
