Job Description

We are offering the exciting opportunity to enter our tailor-made engineering development program. Our Graduate Systems Engineers will immediately fill a vital role in a dynamic and innovative team. Successful candidates shall receive targeted training; developing all the engineering skills and necessary domain knowledge required to achieve technical excellence and be successful Systems Engineers. You will also be part of the two year programme for all Leonardo employees entering at graduate level which will further develop your skills and knowledge within the wider business.

Utilising the latest technologies, Leonardo delivers a world leading portfolio of products to meet the exacting demands of contemporary operational use of high performance Radar and Electro-Optic systems.

Key Responsibility Areas

Leonardo is the world leader in the design, development and production of:

• Airborne Radar outside of the US, for both Fire Control and Surveillance systems.
• Lasers for US-produced Airborne Designator Systems, Ground-based Lasers, and Infrared Countermeasure systems.
• Leonardo is also heavily involved with the development of both the Radar and EO aspects.

Systems Engineers support a wide range of tasks across multiple projects/products. Core activities for our Systems Engineers include:

• Requirements capture, design documentation, verification and validation
• Algorithm design and test for signal processing, tracking, control & image processing
• Performance modelling; building physics-based models to test our designs in silico
• Data analysis; end-to-end system analysis using synthetic and 'real world' data
• Applied research; from product improvements to blue-sky thinking.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

• All of our roles require (a) a minimum of an upper Second class Bachelors/Integrated Masters degree, or (b) a higher degree, such as a MSc or PhD. In all cases the subject should be in a relevant discipline i.e. Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent.
• Experience of programming, relevant project work and placements in the electronics, defence or related industries are beneficial but not essential.
• You must be able to apply your knowledge of science and engineering to real world problems as part of a team and as an individual.
• Please note that in order to apply for this opportunity you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. Normally this is to the level of Security Check (typically known as “SC”) for our business.
