Job Description

As a Graduate Project Manager in Support and Service Solutions (S3) you will be working within a dynamic, collaborative, creative Business Unit to an experienced Programme Manager or Senior Project Manager.

You will be given responsibilities for working with project stakeholders to ensure Customer satisfaction whilst working on a variety of projects throughout the project lifecycle to achieve successful objectives and outcomes.

Based around the Project Management Institute Body of Knowledge, you will be given opportunities to build on your degree knowledge and to develop your project management skills which, with your developing experience, will provide your route to professional accreditation.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • To support the Programme Manager, Senior Project Manager and Work Package Managers to ensure execution of projects to achieve success criteria/objectives.
  • To identify and manage the dependencies between members of the Integrated Project Teams (IPT), supporting business functions and areas.
  • Coordinate the activities of the IPT by establishing appropriate communication mechanisms encompassing both meetings and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain the tailored Lifecycle Management Framework (project plan, WBS, OBS and cost/control accounts) that governs the operation of the IPT across projects.
  • Manage the planning, allocation and deployment of team members and workload to optimise use of resources to changing project needs.
  • Monitoring and control of all activities and costs, defining and implementing corrective (or recovery) actions required to tackle any deviation from the planned activities.
  • Compilation of report information to assist in the reporting of project status to stakeholders and customers.
  • Support the achievement of the Project's economic-financial objectives ensuring maximum value creation throughout the entire lifecycle of the Project within the constraints and commitments agreed with the Business.
  • Conduct effective risk and opportunity management ensuring that all risks and opportunities are recorded, managed and tracked to closure. Where mitigation activities are required ensure that adequate support is provided to ensure they are undertaken.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

All of our roles require (a) a minimum of an upper Second class Bachelors/Integrated Masters degree, or (b) a higher degree, such as a MSc or PhD. In all cases the subject should be engineering, mathematics, physics or another relevant discipline.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisation, presentation and writing skills.
  • Flexibility including ability and willingness to travel and visit customer sites (occasional travel in UK and abroad).
  • Fully conversant with current IT/computer software packages (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good team player
  • Desirable.
