Joining the 2 year Leonardo Graduate Scheme is the opportunity to be part of the next generation of our business. Programme Description

Typically, your placements will consist of 3-6 month rotations across our Bids and Proposals, Contract Management, UK Campaigns, Offset and Marketing Teams. This includes the opportunity to do a 3-month external placement elsewhere in the business. The graduate scheme will give you the opportunity to build on your technical knowledge and develop soft skills through opportunities that a direct entry position may not be able to.

In conjunction with the Function Management Team and the Early Careers Team, you will have the opportunity to input into the design of your training scheme to include placements that give an insight into the complete Helicopter Product Business Life Cycle.

The Sales, Marketing & Contracts function provides the link between the customer and our world-class manufacturing and engineering business, focusing on In-Service Delivery and Business Acquisition activities.

The function delivers capability to the UK Armed Forces via an innovative contracting and through life approach by sustained skills and design authority support and by achieving best in class service provision. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain commercial experience supporting a variety of bids and long-term contracts for key programmes, products and customers. 

Key Responsibility Areas

The Sales, Marketing & Contracts Business Graduate role can be incredibly varied. Workload has previously involved:

  • Assisting the Bids & Proposals team with the management and preparation of proposals to be submitted to the customer.
  • Building relationships with internal functions to support the timely delivery of proposal deliverables.
  • Supporting the execution of existing contracts with International and UK Government customers including payment and billing, reporting, obligation management and issue resolution.
  • Supporting the development and submission of timely and compelling contract proposals working with other functions including Bids & Proposals and Finance.
  • Addressing current or potential International Campaigns or bids with Offset or Industrial Participation requirements.
  • Developing Offset or Industrial Participation projects to enhance our competitive offering and satisfy the requirement of the country.
  • Assisting in the development of business winning opportunities across the Leonardo Helicopters UK current and future product lines.
  • Developing responses to tendering opportunities with the UK MoD.
  • Supporting the development and execution of our social value strategy.
  • Creation and development of marketing material both traditional and digital.
  • Research and composition of presentations for potential customers.
  • Continuous development of competitor analysis documents.

What we need from you:

Minimum 2:2 Bachelors in an Economics/Business related subject or Masters in Management.

Desired skills

  • An understanding of Leonardo markets, products, customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to promote a culture of best practice and sharing of knowledge within the function and across the wider business.
  • Holds an understanding of basic business finance, profit and loss, margin and mark up, escalation, foreign exchange.
  • Has the ability to build effective and strong relationships with cross-functional colleagues, customers and suppliers.
  • Has Microsoft Office knowledge including Microsoft Project and experience of using SAP.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Is proactive, tenacious, results driven.
