The 6 month – 1 year Industrial Placement

We have created a programme across our UK sites that not only increase your technical skills but give you the opportunity to work on meaningful real life projects alongside experienced engineers and graduates across our business. You will receive coaching and support to achieve your personal goals and work in multidisciplinary teams to gain as much experience across the product lifecycle from your time in industry, as possible. Our ultimate aim is to see you through your undergrad years and hopefully offer you a place on our 2 year Graduate Development programme at an appropriate time.

Job Description

This role is to assist a Manufacturing Program Manager (MPM) in the execution of Manufacturing and Supply Chain (M+SC) contracts. The role will also exercise the Leonardo Cycle Management (LCM) processes and will entail the following: bid management, contract acceptance, material planning, creation of a work breakdown structure, management of risk, cost control and tracking, preparation of Contract Status Reviews (CSR), leading an M+SC Integrated Project Team (IPT), liaison with Project disciplines including Procurement, Engineering, Logistics, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Planning, Industrial Engineering. This role will require an element of leadership and inter-personal skills across a number of levels in the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and management of delegated operational manufacturing activities within a multi-function IPT Project
  • Management of customer contracts or stock orders during series production phase.
  • Achievement of deliveries to schedule, cost and quality.
  • Drive and lead Continuous Improvement in support of Operational Excellence.
  • Coordination of M+SC input to LCM and bid activities.
  • Contribute to the Production Readiness Review (PRR) process.
  • Contribute to M+SC group strategy and business planning.

Role Requirements

  • Candidates are expected to be in further education in a related course and have an appropriate gap in studies.
  • You must be able to satisfy the necessary security clearance for the role applied for and meet a minimum of 5 years permanent residency in the UK.
  • A basic knowledge of project and risk management, continuous improvement methods, reporting and presentation skills are required.
  • Skills in MS Office tools are required specifically, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

What can I expect from my working environment?

The role will be office based, using display screen equipment and often working to tight deadlines.
Occasional UK/Abroad travel may be required.
