The 6 month – 1 year Industrial Placement Graduate Programme

We have created a programme across our UK site that not only increases your technical skills but gives you the opportunity to work on meaningful real life projects alongside experienced engineers and graduates across our business. You will receive coaching and support to achieve your personal goals and work in multidisciplinary teams to gain as much experience across the product lifecycle from your time in industry, as possible.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Electronic Warfare business as part of our 2019 Industrial Placement intake. A world leader in electronic systems, our advanced technology is defining the next generation of products as well as being installed on existing helicopters, fast-jet and unmanned air vehicles. Following new product launches and the award of key contracts we are looking for the next generation of motivated and adaptable software engineers to join our growing software community.

Key Responsibility Areas

Our ultimate aim is to see you through your undergraduate years and hopefully offer you a place on our 2 year Graduate programme at an appropriate time. Working alongside other developers in an environment that is both challenging and rewarding your responsibilities will include:

  • We will demand a high degree of customer focus and work performance from you in order to meet our operational challenges.
  • Growing and applying your knowledge of software engineering as part of an Integrated Project Team with some guidance and support.
  • Developing practical skills in design techniques for land, sea or aerospace applications.
  • Exploring new experiences and opportunities to learn within the engineering environment.
  • Supporting early careers activities - our Industrial Placements students have the opportunity to work as STEM ambassadors in schools, colleges and universities.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • You must be able to obtain SC security clearance (if necessary) and have a minimum of 5 years permanent residency in the UK.
  • Must have obtained or are predicted to obtain a minimum of an upper second class honours degree in a relevant discipline (including Systems, Electronics and Physics) or a higher degree such as a MEng, MSc. or PhD.

In addition you will:

  • Need to have an understanding of software engineering principles with knowledge of programming in one or more software language(s).
