The 6 month – 1 year Industrial Placement Programme

We have created a programme across our UK site that not only increases your technical skills but gives you the opportunity to work on meaningful real life projects alongside experienced engineers and graduates across our business. You will receive coaching and support to achieve your personal goals and work in multidisciplinary teams to gain as much experience across the product lifecycle from your time in industry, as possible.

Our ultimate aim is to see you through your undergraduate years and hopefully offer you a place on our 2 year Graduate Development programme at an appropriate time. Job Description

As a Manufacturing Engineering Industrial Placement you will be given the opportunity to use your creative talents and innovation to contribute to the development of the core Manufacturing Engineering and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes. You working alongside a team of professional Manufacturing Engineers who facilitate the introduction of new products into manufacturing and provide real time support to the manufacturing organisation.

Key Responsibility Areas

You will be required to gain an understanding of the current processes and techniques that are used as part of the introduction of new products and work under the guidance of your line manager to develop innovation to manufacturing and test methods in order to achieve improved manufacturing efficiency. This will include gaining a level of understanding of the key technologies involved and developing practical skills in manufacturing and test process concepts for RF, digital or optical product applications.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • You should have obtained or be studying towards obtaining a degree such as Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience of Mechanical design, CAD Modelling, electronic component & Printed Circuit Board concepts is desirable.
  • Previous manufacturing related experience and knowledge of six-sigma/lean improvement techniques would be an advantage.
  • Candidates are required to demonstrate personal ownership and responsibility for their work, team working skills and technical excellence.
  • They should be self-motivated, resourceful, and tenacious, with the ability to utilise their creative problem solving skills in the resolution of challenges.
  • The successful candidate will have a confident outgoing personality with the stature and presence to hold their own in a challenging operational environment.
  • Please note that in order to apply for this opportunity you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. Normally this is to the level of Security Check (typically known as “SC”) for our business, but may need to be to a higher level for this particular role due to the nature of the projects and or programmes that the role will be supporting.
