Do you want to work on real-time projects alongside leading Scientists and Engineers within a globally renowned company?

The role requires an enthusiastic individual who has a passion for overcoming technical challenges. As an Electronics Summer Placement you will form part of a multi-discipline Team of Engineers undertaking the collective objective of advancing our World leading products in the Defence domain.

The 13 week Summer Industrial Placement Programme

We have created a programme across our UK sites that not only increases your technical skills, but gives you the opportunity to work on meaningful real life projects, alongside experienced engineers and graduates across our business. This programme is remunerated £25,000 per annum.

You will receive coaching and support to achieve your personal goals and work in multidisciplinary teams to gain as much experience across the product lifecycle from your time in industry as possible.  Our ultimate aim is to see you through your undergrad years and successful placements will result in an offer to return for further placements or for an offer on our Graduate Development programme.

What you’ll do as a Summer Placement Electronics Engineer:

You will be responsible for:

  • Building the skills required to work effectively within a Professional Engineering environment.
  • Support the design and development of our world leading electro-optical, communications and information system products under the guidance of experienced Electronics Engineers
  • You will interface with engineers from other disciplines including Mechanical, Software, Systems, Supportability and Design Integrity. Electronics Engineers design, document, build and test electronics circuits and firmware designs to go into our various systems.
  • There will be opportunities to develop expertise in the design of circuits, FPGAs and subsystems at various stages in the product lifecycle. This will include requirements capture, performance analysis, design, code, verification, validation and support to integration and qualification. You will gain exposure to other engineering disciplines and business areas.

What we need from you:

  • You're currently undertaking a minimum of a Bachelors level degree Electrical/Electronics Engineering (or similar field)
  • You're a a self-motivated individual, willing to take on new challenges and drive continuous personal development
  • You have communication skills across a variety of mediums i.e. written, verbal, digital, etc.
  • You have the ability to develop effective working relationships with peers and stakeholders
  • You're adaptable to the ever-changing demands that will be encountered within the role
  • You offer novel ideas and methods for solving technical problems, drawing on personal experiences and knowledge learned during academic studies
  • You can demonstrate relevant project work and/or placements in Industry are beneficial, but not essential

All of our Industrial Placement roles require you to be currently studying an electronics biased degree including modules covering topics such as digital design, analogue design and signal processing with experience of using PCB design and simulation tools is highly desirable.

Please note that in order to apply for this opportunity you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. Normally this is to the level of Security Check (typically known as “SC”) for our business which includes having a minimum of five years permanent residency in the UK.
