The department maintains all the non-production infrastructure, such as roads, buildings and utility supply networks on plant. The role will focus on providing innovative solutions to FM issues. You will have the opportunity work across a number of the BMW sites in the UK including Rolls Royce motor cars and across Europe.

This role is based around managing the demands and requirements from departments internally ensuring that the facility is first class and fully operational to support production. You will be responsible for ensuring requests are actioned, monitored and progress reported as well as the monitoring of key KPI’s from the FM provider. The main function will be based around reactive work but a large proportion will be proactive project style work overseeing facility change requests requested by departments. This will include overseeing the design, planning, and construction stages as well as achieving energy targets.

Daily working activities can be very broad from environmental, civil to electrical biased as FM & energy see challenges in all areas so the successful person can focus our their strengths within engineering.

  • Prepare documents to put out tenders for contractors
  • Supplier Steering
  • Analysis of the issues that arise across the plant and provide innovative solutions
  • Project manage, supervise and coordinate the work of contractors
  • Investigate the availability and suitability of options for new premises
  • Plan for future developments
  • Manage and lead facility change requests to ensure minimum disruption to core activities
  • Plan best allocation and utilisation of space and resources for new buildings, or re-organising of current premises
  • Check that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed satisfactorily and follow up on any deficiencies
  • Use performance management techniques to monitor and demonstrate achievement of agreed service levels and to lead on improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Working towards a 2:1 in Engineering degree
  • Knowledge of Technical and Environmental Legislation
  • Knowledge and experience production process of the Business partners process
  • Competence in evaluation of facility services and processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively across both verbal and written
  • Proactive with a ‘hands on’ approach and a positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Innovate approach to problem solving and the confidence & ability to put ideas forwards
  • Lean 6 Sigma and Prince 2 knowledge a benefit
  • CAD package knowledge and experience preferable (Auto Cad, Solid works, Revit etc.)
