A good internship is never hands off.

Share your passion for getting hands-on with us.

We believe in creating an environment where our interns really can learn by doing during their time with us and where they are given their own areas of responsibilities from the start. That’s why our experts treat you as part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table – and give you the opportunity to really show what you can do.

Plant Oxford is the birthplace and heart of MINI production. Manufactured to individual customer specifications, hundreds of MINIs leave the plant’s assembly lines each day, off to meet new owners in more than 110 countries around the world. Since production of the new MINI started in 2001, almost 3 million cars have been made at Plant Oxford.

Three UK plants have had a part to play in MINI production – Plant Hams Hall makes engines, Plant Swindon produces body pressings and sub-assemblies for MINI, and all this comes together at Plant Oxford with body shell production, paint and final assembly.

To ensure that we are continually developing our workforce, we are looking for talented and motivated people who will inspire and shape our future business. Each year we offer a number of internship opportunities and are keen to hear from you if you are currently studying an undergraduate degree and are on track for a 2:1 or 1st class final result.

Quality Management

Product quality always begins at source - with procurement. That’s why it takes people with an uncompromising sense of standards, an exceptional mind-set and a real feeling for quality to procure the most suitable materials for each and every part of our vehicles. But the job doesn’t just end there. In their pursuit of uncompromising quality, our teams are tasked with ensuring all the materials they source continue to drive more sustainable and efficient production methods too.

Within the Parts Quality Management department, we use our manufacturing knowledge and leadership skills to support with the effective management of suppliers to achieve product and process maturity, capability and ongoing efficiency improvements. We form part of the BMW team which collectively are responsibility for identifying, and nominating, new suppliers. Once nominated, our Engineers work closely with the supplier’s launch and quality departments to develop and manage the pre-serial activities in line with BMW project milestones. You will be part of a team responsible for the approval of parts quality prior to launch and in serial production.

The further expectations of the Quality Management team include the management of critical supplier concerns and ensuring in series production that the suppliers are adhering to the standards and targets defined by BMW process partners. We are responsible for quality problems associated with our supply base, and therefore conduct root cause analysis to determine long and short term solutions in a timely manner and escalate issues as appropriate.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the management of departmental quality KPIs; including liaising with process partners and steering team members to deliver accurate results and achieve targets.
  • Develop, recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions for supplier based projects.
  • Liaise with external suppliers on site (at Plant Oxford) and provide support with the resolution of supplier quality topics.
  • Support with the continuous development and improvement of the department
  • Assist with general admin support and following up on team actions.

We offer a competitive salary of £17,500 per annum and a range of benefits including a pension scheme, generous holiday allowance and a subsidised on-site restaurant. As an intern you will also have the opportunity to take part in the testing of new vehicles through one of our car schemes.
