The Hams Hall plant, located just outside Birmingham, in the UK, produces the latest generation of three and four cylinder petrol engines. Production also includes the machining of key engine components. Producing seven days a week, a finished engine leaves the production line every minute, and more than 1.4 million components are machined at the plant each year.

This department performs a supporting function to the engine manufacturing business to help improve processes. Lean Manufacturing processes helps us to first understand, and then reduce levels of waste in both technical and administrative work processes. Through the alignment of the company's own processes according to the Value-added Production Systems principles, efficiency and quality can be permanently improved.
Our target is a process in which the waste is reduced to a minimum with optimised value-added work steps. Standards ensure the sustainability of any improvements. The Maturity Model NEXT helps us to assess our status and derive the right activities for continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will support the team with innovation and digitalisation projects. They will have the skills and capability to evaluate process performance. Furthermore be able to identify and implement improvements in order to improve efficiency and reduce process costs.

As an intern you will also have the opportunity to take part in the testing of new vehicles through one of our car schemes.
