This placement opportunity is specifically for MSc students who are completing a masters in a computing or digital subject.
As part of the placement you will have the opportunity to work on one of the following projects:
The aim of this project will be to develop a model powered by machine learning to enable proactive fraud detection of suppliers’ payment data, which is usually of high volume but low veracity, in the construction industry. The outcome of this project will be a proof-of-concept to demonstrate the ability of using a model to detect and predict fraud or suspicious activities of suppliers, improving efficiency and accuracy to what is usually a manual process. Preferred technologies programming languages are Python, R, Azure SQL.
The aim of this project will be to develop a model powered by machine learning to monitor carbon footprints and the associated costs, which will in turn enable organisations to identify low-carbon alternatives and manage their climate-related risks. This project will focus on the construction sector. The outcome of this project will be a proof-of-concept taking variables such as materials and asset types into account to model carbon costs and help identify carbon efficiency. Preferred technologies programming languages are Python, R, Azure SQL.

The placements usually start in June and will last between 10 and 12 weeks. This placement is suitable for anyone wanting to gain an insight into the construction industry and the projects we work on.

To apply you must be have been awarded a 2:1 or 1st in your undergraduate degree in any STEM discipline and have the right to live and work in the UK.
You also must be a masters student completing an MSc in the area of computing or digital.
