Are you interested in completing a placement with one of the UK & Irelands leading Building & Civil Engineering companies?

Following on from your education a placement with Farrans as a junior Building Engineer, is an excellent foundation to the start of your career within the Construction industry. The placement will give you the opportunity to gain site experience working on high profile complex projects across UK & Ireland.

We are very excited to launch our Graduate and Placement Application Process for 2021.

Role outline

You will work alongside experts in all areas of the business which will develop your knowledge and understanding of your assigned project. Through mentoring and coaching you will be given numerous opportunities and challenges which will help support you build a career in a fast paced and stimulating industry.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist Site Manager with the initial site set-up. Learning the importance of project planning from the infancy of the project to completion at handover
  • Support Site Manager check drawings and plans, quantities for accuracy and act as technical adviser for subcontractors
  • Compile data and capture records to monitor the use of site resources
  • Communicate with local authorities to ensure compliance with construction regulations and legislation
  • Liaise with Senior Engineers, clients’ engineers, contractors, subcontracts and statutory bodies to ensure the delivery of programme is within deadline and agreed budget
  • Providing assistance to the Senior Engineers, liaising with clients and carrying out site investigations
  • Check designs, drawings and data to ensure quality control and compliance procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure health and safety practices are maintained to provide a safe working environment

Skills & Experience required

Aside from being passionate about starting a career in the civils and construction industry. You will need to have a high attention to detail coupled with meticulous planning and organisational skills

  • Hold bachelor’s degree, HNC OR HND in Engineering Discipline
  • Hold a full UK driving license • Open to living away from home
  • Flexible approach to working hours and locations
  • Desirable – knowledge of health & safety, AutoCAD
