Following on from your education a placement with Farrans as a junior Quantity Surveyor, is an excellent foundation to the start of your career. The placement will give you the opportunity to gain site experience working on high profile complex projects across UK & Ireland.

Graduate and Placements 2021

We are very excited to launch our Graduate and Placement Application Process for 2021.

Role outline

You will work alongside experts in all areas of the business which will develop your knowledge and understanding of your assigned project. Through mentoring and coaching you will be given numerous opportunities and challenges which will help support you build a career in a fast paced and stimulating industry.

Main Responsibilities

  • Analyse subcontract quotations
  • Review conditions and/or qualifications prior to submission of a tender
  • Ensure the preparation of interim applications, including works executed, materials on site and works by subcontractors is submitted to the Client’s team by agreed deadline.
  • Source contract variations and help evaluate and measure these with Senior Quantity Surveyors
  • Gather records to confirm additional payments where required and defend claims received from subcontractors
  • Assist with the procurement of subcontractors
  • Generate payments and distribute notices to suppliers and subcontractors, including the measurement of works and differences executed to evaluate final costs and accounts.
  • Contribute to the submission of weekly financial forecasting including the assembling of contract costs.

Skills & Experience required

Aside from being passionate about starting a career in the building and construction industry. You will need to have a high attention to detail coupled with meticulous planning and organisational skills

  • Hold bachelor’s degree, HNC OR HND in Engineering Discipline
  • Hold a full UK driving license
  • Open to living away from home
  • Flexible approach to working hours and locations
  • Desirable – knowledge of health & safety, AutoCAD
