Welwyn Garden City, the base for Roche’s UK Pharmaceutical business, is a town in Hertfordshire around 20 miles from central London. It is easy to reach by road from Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Essex.
There are frequent train services to the town from London Kings Cross, Cambridge and Peterborough. A free employee shuttle bus operates between Welwyn Garden City train station and our office. Luton, Stansted and Heathrow airports are all also easy to reach.
Our award-winning office, known as Hexagon Place, was opened in 2005 and provides a modern, flexible working environment with facilities that are second-to-none. Around 1,400 people work at our Welwyn office.
There is a fully equipped gym on-site, a library and information centre, and an active sports and social club. We also have a subsidised staff restaurant providing foods to cater for every taste throughout the day.
At the heart of the building is an informal meeting area known as The Street which features a coffee shop, snack machine and cashpoint.
A second building on-site, called The Hub, contains modern meeting room and conference facilities.
Around 1,400 people work at our Welwyn office.

Take a step back through the millennia at the Welwyn Roman Baths or Roman Verulamium in St Albans. Spend a day at the gothic Knebworth House or Queen Elizabeth I’s childhood home, Hatfield House.

With London on your doorstep, you can easily access some of the world’s greatest art galleries and museums, shops and restaurants.
If you want to escape the crowds, you don’t have to go far, with nearly two thirds of Hertfordshire’s rural area designated as Green Belt. Enjoy the rolling countryside and ancient woodlands of the Ashridge Estate, go bird-watching in the Lee Valley Park, discover the tranquillity of life afloat on the Grand Union Canal or try a spot of windsurfing, canoeing or angling at Stanborough Park in Welwyn Garden City.
