What will you do?

You will learn from our industry leading investment professionals and will be encouraged to present your own views and ideas. Interns at M&G Plc make valuable contributions to the teams they work in and will be involved in a variety of tasks focussed on investment analysis. The nature of the work will vary dependent on the business area and team that you are placed, but through collaboration with your assigned manager there is always opportunity to tailor the internship to things that you already enjoy while remaining open to new and exciting areas on offer at M&G Plc.

Work that previous interns have been involved in includes:

  • Performing credit, company and market analysis

You will be placed in a team one of the following areas:

Private & Alternative Assets: M&G is one of the largest managers of private assets in Europe with over £65bn of asset under management. The Private & Alternative Assets group consists of four teams, Private Fixed Income, Real Estate, Infracapital and Alternatives and totals over 500 employees. The teams source and manage private assets mostly on behalf of institutional clients and the Internal client with the assets split about 50:50 between third party and internal funds.

Research & ESG: The Research team delivers M&G Plc’s proprietary analysis and views into the investment process. Analysts express their views in terms of hard metrics such as credit ratings or equity valuations, and written output such as earning commentary or research papers. Analysts also engage directly with fund managers to collaborate in the process of investment idea generation.

The Stewardship & Sustainability (ESG) team develop and deliver ESG subject matter knowledge within M&G plc. These insights are used to inform both analysts and fund managers on big Sustainability themes. They also help to determine the priorities in our engagements with investee companies, and to shape long-term investment strategies in funds that are targeting a successful climate transition. The team collaborates closely with analysts and investment teams to inform portfolio construction, especially in M&G Plc’s growing range of ESG-aligned strategies.

Treasury and Investment Office: The M&G Plc Treasury and Investment Office (T&IO) is responsible for the portfolio management and oversight of the internal Life and Annuity Fund investments, including setting Strategic Asset Allocations and selecting Fund Managers. The team is also responsible for M&G Plc Group Treasury activities.

Cash & Currency: The Cash and Currency team design and manage treasury product mandates for the asset manager and the asset owner as well being the global execution hub for cash and FX markets.

Public Fixed Income: M&G Plc’s Public Fixed Income business manages approximately £140bn of assets for institutional and wholesale clients. The investment team benefits from the support of one of Europe’s largest in-house credit research teams. The 45-strong team of experienced investment and client service professionals manage assets across a range of strategies spanning Fundamental Credit, Emerging Market Debt, High Yield and Macro/Strategic Credit.

You will learn from our industry leading investment professionals and will be encouraged to present your own views and ideas. Graduates at M&G make valuable contributions to the teams they work in and will be involved in a variety of tasks focused predominately on investment analysis.
