Working across a variety of industry sectors, our Civil and Structural teams are renowned for producing innovative and award-winning sustainable engineering solutions throughout the lifecycle of any building project. To build on our great work so far, we are looking for graduates who want to create, improve and protect the environment in which we live and provide the facilities for day-to-day life, transport and industry to function effectively.

The Civil and Structural engineering teams provide industry-leading expertise – and offer a pro-active and collaborative approach to skill development, and professional excellence. Join us and you could be a part of a team who built a state-of-the-art faculty of medical sciences for a university campus, the concept design for the Rio Olympics 2016 Canoe Slalom, or the largest office park in the UK.

The Role

In this graduate role, you’ll join our Civil or Structural Engineering team to work on the design of some of the most exciting construction design projects in the UK and worldwide. Working closely with colleagues across our multi-disciplinary practice, you’ll provide specialist consultancy input on projects across a wide range of sectors including Education, Healthcare, Critical Systems and Retail.

Join us as a Graduate Civil Engineer and under the guidance of our team of expert engineers, this wide-ranging role will see you carrying out water flow and highways design including; flood risk assessments, hydrological assessments, road horizontal and vertical alignment, and earthworks analysis.

If it’s a Graduate Structural Engineer role you’re looking for, you’ll work with and be guided by a team of expert engineers to carry out detailed structural engineering design and analysis, using your maths, science and problem solving skills to design safe and economic structures which span; shopping centres, bridges, housing developments, retail centres and more.

Both roles will require you to use your knowledge and expertise to define and translate clients’ needs into designs for buildings, infrastructure, facilities and services with sustainability at the forefront of the design.

You’ll have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills develop, and with accredited professional development programmes from the ICE and IStructE, you’ll be supported towards Chartership.

The Skills

Accredited with or on course to achieve an MEng degree level (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering, you’ll have a keen interest in civil and/or structural design and analysis for the built environment, and crucially - have a passion for creative and intuitive design. Possessing a desire for personal and professional development, you’ll have the proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Digital engineering is a big focus at Cundall, so ideally, you’ll have an understanding of Parametric Modelling Techniques (Grasshopper or Dynamo), or at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, C#, VB). An understanding of Engineering Optimisation Techniques, the principles of structured programming and basic knowledge in the application of Machine Learning would also be desirable.

You are organised and methodical in your approach to managing your tasks and priorities, you strive to meet deadlines and have a close appreciation of the commercial factors which affect design solutions.

Collaborative in nature, you’ll be able to empathise with your clients’ needs and utilise excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally, with internal and external stakeholders. You’re used to using your initiative to overcome challenges and have a positive, can-do attitude.

What’s in it for you?

We offer a competitive starting salary which grows as you develop, as well as many training and development opportunities to make sure you keep progressing.
