In 2017 Sparta Global ran a workshop with The Mayor of London Fund in an inner-city school. The day focused on helping young people to understand what it is like to work in tech and, following its success, we invited the Fund to host an open day at our Richmond Academy. More young people were given the opportunity to learn about technology careers and explore the training Sparta has to offer.
The day-long session was run by the Sparta Academy team and included presentations from the talent team and introductory taster sessions in building software. Our current trainees remained onsite for their training too, offering college students a glimpse into our exciting Academy culture and engaging learning techniques.
The students were asked to complete a short survey following their time at the academy and the first ten respondents were extremely positive – all said they would recommend the experience to other young people. Other feedback described the day as an “insightful experience” and “an exciting opportunity to apply skills and gain experience”.
At Sparta Global we want to encourage young people to aspire to a career in tech and to know that no matter what they study at university – it’s never too late to start a new adventure and consider a new career path. Opportunities exist to train and learn new skills and the Sparta Academy is the best place to be to begin a career in tech.
Working alongside the Fund, we hope to continue running workshops for young people eager to explore new avenues for learning and work. All while helping more people - irrespective of prior educational circumstances and opportunity - to craft a better future in tech.
